The Lake District’s natural and diverse beauty has attracted travellers of all sorts for many years as folk have marvelled at the highs and lows of the region. We experience the wild and unspoilt territory and enjoy a boat trip on Ullswater plus a steam train journey through the Leven Valley. As well as a drive over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass, we also visit Holker Hall and Gardens, and spend time in typical Cumbrian towns such as Grasmere and Ambleside.

The Skiddaw Hotel in the town square combines the traditional décor and friendly welcome of a family-run hotel with modern facilities and efficient service. There is a restaurant, lounge bar and all 43 en-suite bedrooms have satellite TV, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.
