The town of Sligo, which straddles the Garavogue River where it meets Sligo Bay, boasts a fascinating history, most notably its association with Irelands most celebrated poet, W.B. Yeats. On this tour we visit some of the local attractions, which include Lissadell House and Parkes Castle, and travel further afield into Co. Mayo and enjoy some splendid scenery on the way, making Sligo a great base from which to explore.
This family-owned hotel is located right in the heart of the city, next to the rail and bus stations. We leave the Europa Buscentre and break our journey in Enniskillen around lunchtime. We arrive at our hotel in late afternoon.

Our first stop today is at Drumcliff Churchyard where W.B. Yeats, whose strong association with Sligo and the surrounding countryside inspired a lot of his writings, is buried. We continue on to Lissadell House and Gardens, possibly the jewel on the Wild Atlantic Way. This morning we travel to Hennigan’s Heritage Centre where we have a tour around this traditional rural cottage and enjoy tea with freshly baked scones. We continue north through Ballina to ever popular Enniscrone, where we spend the afternoon, before returning to Sligo via the coast road.B, D
We have a short trip to Parke’s Castle, a 17th century plantation castle picturesquely situated on the shores of Lough Gill, where we have a guided tour. We return to Sligo around lunchtime and the rest of the day is at leisure.B, D
We retrace our journey back to Belfast but visit the Belleek Pottery Visitor Centre just after lunchtime and arrive back in the Europa Buscentre at approximately 4pm.B
