Southport 2018
This traditional Victorian seaside town combines the essence of a seaside holiday with fabulous attractions and shopping.
This traditional Victorian seaside town combines the essence of a seaside holiday with fabulous attractions and shopping. Known as the ‘Floral Capital of the North West’, Southport is awash with beautifully preserved flowerbeds and gardens. For 2018 we have a scenic tour of Lancashire, taking in the ‘Cathedral of the Canals’ and a river cruise.
The Royal Clifton is a great base from which to explore this part of England. It occupies a prime location on the seafront, and its 120 bedrooms are all en-suite with flatscreen TV, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities and free WiFi.
Day 1
Europa Buscentre to Southport via Cairnryan with Stena Line.
Hotel: Best Western Royal Clifton Hotel, Southport (4 nights D, B&B)
Day 2
Today we explore the delightful scenery of Lancashire, passing through Clitheroe as we head to Settle in the foothills of the Pennines. Then we continue to Kirkby Lonsdale situated at the gateway to the Lake District. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.
B, DDay 3
You have a free day to enjoy the resort, taking in its beachfront, shops and gardens.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast we embark on an aquatic adventure, travelling to Northwich to visit the Anderton Boat Lift, the so-called ‘Cathedral of the Canals’, and enjoying a river cruise along the picturesque River Weaver to Northwich and back (please note the site is sloped and there are 10 steps down to the boat). We return to Southport in mid-afternoon.

Southport to Belfast via Cairnryan with Stena Line.
