Sitting at the head of Loch Long, in the Western Highlands, sits the small village of Arrochar where you can admire the wonderful views down this Clyde sealoch and its surrounding mountains. The Trossachs National Park and the well known and spectacular waters of Loch Lomond, on which we have a cruise, are only a short journey from the hotel.

 

The Arrochar Hotel dates from the 19th century. Situated at the very foot of the ‘Arrochar Alps’, it offers a tranquil hideaway to relax and unwind, with stunning views of Loch Long. All 76 bedrooms are en suite, with tea/coffee making facilities and free WiFi. There is lively entertainment two evenings per week.

Day 1

We take the mid- morning Stena ferry to Cairnryan and onward to Arrochar.

Day 2

Travelling west we hug the shoreline of Loch Long and Loch Fyne to stop in the historical market town of Inveraray to visit the Castle and Gardens. Afterwards we head towards the pretty coastal resort of Oban passing Loch Awe and Loch Etive. We return via the northern shore of Loch Lomond.

Day 3

Witness some beautiful Scottish scenery today with an excursion to Perthshire. We travel via Crieff to Aberfeldy, Scotland’s first fair-trade town, and onwards to the conservation village of Kenmore. Driving parallel to Loch Tay we view the mighty Falls of Dochart in the village of Killin before returning to the hotel.

Day 4

Today we head south towards the coastal town of Helensburgh. After a refreshing break, we continue on to Loch Lomond and Lomond Shores, a superb visitor destination with great shopping! After lunch, there’s a one-hour cruise of Loch Lomond, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

We return to Belfast via Glasgow’s Riverside Museum and the afternoon Stena Line ferry from Cairnryan.
